Landscape With Invisible Hand (Featuring Evan Crean)

On the 328th episode of Piecing It Together, Evan Crean from Spoilerpiece Theater joins me to talk about Landscape with Invisible Hand. Cory Finley’s third film is a weird one and maybe the first episode I’ve ever had this much trouble finding a guest for. I’m glad Evan was up for it because this was one I had to talk about. Puzzle pieces include The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy, They Live, American Beauty and Sorry To Bother You.

Everything Everywhere All At Once (Featuring Erica Richards)

On the 234th episode of Piecing It Together, film critic Erica Richards joins me in this universe and many multiverses to talk about Daniels’ new A24 film Everything Everywhere All At Once. As a huge fan of their previous film Swiss Army Man, this was one of my most anticipated movies of the year. Puzzle pieces include The Matrix, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, About Time and Synecdoche New York.

On the 57th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host David Quinones and I discuss Childish Gambino’s 50 minute semi-feature Guava Island, which debuted on Amazon Prime during his Coachella set. Part film, part music video collection, it’s a unique vision, as we should all expect from the team behind Atlanta and Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” music video. Puzzle pieces include Lemonade, Spirited Away, Inside Llewyn Davis and Sorry To Bother You.

Sorry To Bother You (Featuring David Quinones)

On the 23rd episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host David Quinones and I actually do our first ever cross-over episode with our other show Bird Road Podcast by covering the politically charged Sorry To Bother You. The story centers on a man in an alternate near future (played by Atlanta’s Lakeith Stanfield) who discovers he has a special gift that will lead to a fast rise up the corporate ladder at his telemarketing job. As his career begins to take off, his friends begin to organize a protest against the corporation, and the anti-capitalism messages mix with plenty of weird dystopian imagery in this wild movie from first time writer/director Boots Riley. Puzzle pieces include the work of Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry, Office Space, They Live and Dope.
