On the 111th episode of Piecing It Together, Catherine Gonzales joins me to talk about the Roger Deakins cinematography extravaganza that is 1917. The war film is shot in a way that makes it seem like one long take and is probably going to win Best Picture. Puzzle pieces include Birdman, Saving Private Ryan, Dunkirk and We Were Soldiers.
On the 24th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Chad Clinton Freeman discuss Alpha, the survival epic about the first ever “boy and his dog” from writer/director Albert Hughes. It’s a gorgeous looking movie set in 20,000BC with long, beautiful shots of the uncompromising wilderness, acted in an ancient language (with subtitles) and tells the story of the first man who ever bonded with a dog. It might not REALLY be the story of the first man and dog to bond, but it’s a great one. Puzzle pieces include Apocalypto, 300, 10,000 B.C., and Annie.
On the 4th episode of Piecing It Together, co-host TJ Kross and I discuss the new reboot of Tomb Raider, based on the hit video-game series. Alicia Vikander stars as the new Lara Croft in an adventure filled with puzzles, action and almost exact recreations of the most recent Tomb Raider games. Puzzle Pieces include Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Revenant, Sahara and the Uncharted video-game series.
