On the 126th episode of Piecing It Together, Jason Harris joins me for another female led high school buddy comedy (after our previous episode on Booksmart), Banana Split. It’s a really funny, sweet coming-of-age story that deserves a lot more attention than it’s getting. Puzzle pieces include Ghost World, Up, Ingrid Goes West and I Love You, Man.
On the 83rd episode of Piecing It Together, Kris Krainock returns to the show to talk about one of his favorite movies of the year, the debut from writer/director Joe Talbot, The Last Black Man In San Francisco. This beautiful, surreal look at the effects of gentrification from A24 is one of the year’s best, most unique films. Puzzle pieces include The Royal Tenembaums, Do The Right Thing, The Florida Project and Atlanta.
On the 34th episode of Piecing It Together, returning co-host Josh Bell and I discuss a24’s Never Goin’ Back, a funny, crazy new comedy about the misadventures of two young female stoners. It’s about youth, friendship, drugs and bodily functions. We had a great time talking about it. Puzzle pieces include Beavis & Butthead, Ghost World, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and a bunch of other a24 films.
On the 2nd episode of Piecing It Together, co-host Josh Bell and I discuss the new dark comedy Thoroughbreds. This Sundance 2017 hit finally got its theatrical release and is personally my favorite movie so far this year. Aside from American Psycho and Heathers (which are right on the pull-quote on the movie poster), other Puzzle Pieces mentioned include Strangers On A Train, The Witch, and Heavenly Creatures.
